Can guestimate weight furniture support, Th amount of weight an object can support is dependent upon the material it is made from and the thickness of that material. sheet metal will support much less weight than metal that is an inch thick. balsa wood supports less weight than mahogany of the same thickness. etc. posted by dfriedman at 10:49 am on september 12, 2009. A few shops have coffee tables, sideboards and TV stands that are the perfect height and width, but all will hold a maximum weight of between 50 and 70kg, whereas I need it to hold 200kg.
